Jio Fiber plan
Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited has begun offering fibre to the home (FTTH) broadband connection with 1.1 terabytes (TB) of free data at speed of 100 mbps in selected markets in the country.
After disrupting the mobile network market, Jio is expected to disrupt fixed line broadband services by launching its exclusive Jio Broadband services in market with higher data speed at affordable price. Reportedly, the initial plan would provide up tp 1.1 TB of data to users and it would include 100GB of free data per month at the speed of 100Mbps.
Once FUP gets exhausted, customers can avail 40 giga bytes of free data which is in the form of top-ups that they can get 25 times in month effectively obtaining 1.1TB of free data. FTTH braodband services are currenly in testing phase in selected markets including Chennai, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Jamnagar and New Delhi and other few parts with a commercial launch set for later this year for both households and enterprise customers.
If reports are to be believed, a Jio Fiber connection is said to be available in the initial markets at interest free refundable security deposit of Rs. 4,500 in which Jio router would be installed which can also be used as set-top box to enable TV channels via IPTV (Internet Protocol Television) services that are yet to be rolled out.
Furthermore, the Reliance Jio is already reported to have more than three lakh kilometres of optic fibre network across the nation which could help a faster rollout of the public release of Jio Fiber. With the launch of Jio FTTH service it is eyeing to capture 100 million television households across 30 cities in India.
